Project type: Typography + Illustration
Objective: Design a typographic thank you card using Langara College's official colours. The card must feature a quote at least 4 words long, include illustrative elements, and combine a variety of different typefaces.
Solution: I chose a Vietnamese proverb: "When eating fruit, remember the one who planted the tree". Each illustration was made to emphasize the words. The cherries were made from the dot on the I in "fruit" (incidentally that typeface is called Cheri!). I added a horizontal shovel to fill the white space, which doubles as an arrow pointing to the next word. The word "tree" is adorned with leafy branches, leading the eye towards a little sapling. Finally, a little squirrel is standing by the tree. ♥
The artwork and typography was made using Clip Studio Paint, Illustrator and Photoshop. Then I used InDesign to position the image onto a card template.
The most challenging part of this project was choosing the typefaces and positioning the words just right!
